Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy Recall Golfer’s Billiards Games – Lead Paint Standard Violation

A voluntary recall of Golfer’s Billiard Games has been announced by the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy. The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission has asked the firm to recall its products in lieu of the fact that the Golfer’s Billiard Games violate the federally designated standards of lead paint. Consumers are requested to stop the use of the recalled products on an immediate basis, unless otherwise instructed.

The Description of the Recalled Product

15 Golf balls are part of the Golfer’s Billiard Game that has been recalled. The exterior paint and design of the Golf balls is such that they resemble billiard balls. This Billiard Game also features six putting cups. There are two models of the Golfer’s Billiard Games that have been recalled including, Clubhouse Golfer’s Billiard Game, Style #302 and Acuity Golfer’s Billiard Game, Style #AC302. To identify whether your Golfer’s Billiard Game is the one that has been recalled you must check the name and style number on the packaging of the product.

The Hazard of the Recalled Product

We have aforementioned that the golf balls have been painted to look like billiard balls. The surface paint used for the process contains excess levels of lead. This is will lead to a hazardous health situation. Children are at risk from the excess of lead content. Even exposure to low levels of lead, could impact the development of the brain. The Clubhouse model of the Golfer’s Billiard Game was sold at nationwide stores of Golf Galaxy and could also be purchased from its Website right from May 2008 to December 2008. The Acuity model of the Golfer’s Billiard Game was available at all Dick’s Sporting Goods shops, between October 2008 and December 2008. The cost of both these products was around $30.
