Children’s Sketchbooks by eeBoo Corp

When products in the United States are found to present a problem with issues of health or safety of the consumers who use the products, the government agency known as the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission steps in. The CPSC is charged with protection of the consumers who use the products. For instance, a too-high level of lead in the products or their components is prohibited under the standards set by the CPSC. In such instances, the distributor or manufacturer and the CPSC issues a voluntary recall of the product. In this way, the consumer is protected from negative health or safety results .

Product Description

A total of 8 children’s sketchbooks are targeted by the recent CPSC recall due to excess levels le lead on the coated spiral bindings of the sketchbook. The recalled sketchbooks were all produced in China and distributed by eeBoo Corporation of New York, NY. About 80,000 sketchbooks fall under the recall. Other similar sketchbooks with decorative covers and metal or coated metal bindings are not included in the recall.

Availability of the Sketchbooks

The sketchbooks in questions were sold during the period from September 2005 through January 2008 for a cost of around six dollars each. Specialty stores and gift stores carried the sketchbooks in stock. The brightly colored covers and metal spiral bindings makes this an attractive gift item for any child who shows an interest in drawing or painting. The drawing paper is good quality and the cardboard cover is a decorative asset for a child’s sketchbook.

Remedial Actions
